Slow News Time.
Aug 18th, 2009, 9:04pm

Has anyone noticed that there is a correlation between the size of the local newspaper and the postings on this site? Lately the newspaper has been very thin with mostly news wire canned stories. At the same time the postings here have been very slow. Are things that good or is the interest in local issue declining?

Idlewild,  It looks like you have a bunch of readers on the site but not many who post.  The site was really active with posts during the last elections McElroy/Jones and other contests.  The site  then slowed down until the ticket writing quota at the Morgan City Police Dept. broke with a Civil Service Hearing.   Everything lately has been quiet some days no one posts anything on any of the web-sites categories.   I wonder if the site had reached its peak and is now on a steady decline.   I personally tried to keep things going during past elections creating new topics and polls and the site had users checking in daily to get the latest comments/posts.    The site was really entertaining at one time but seems to have lost some muster due to the lack of local controversial topics.   Hope the site will pick up again soon because I really enjoy reading others comments and views on various subjects.   Thanks for the site Idlewild.

Yea Pistol there has been a lack of controversial subjects lately in the local news. Sometimes I put something out there to stir things up a bit. It just seems that the Parish has had a decline in hot topics lately. I am not certain that is a good thing though. We still have a whole plethora of problems that need to be addressed .If it is a lack of interest then that is a bad thing. People must have an interest in their community to make it a better place.

Thanks for your efforts to keep things interesting Pistol. I agree that the Parish does need a site like this. The site will stay up through the slow times. I just get a little tired of checking it sometimes to see that there is nothing new.

I agree with both posts!  I think maybe this time of year is a little busy, once everyone settles in again, things, or opinions will start being shared.  I would like to see the old timers get back on and debate parish and municipal issues.  Good stuff!

If I want entertainment I would run out to the supermarket and buy a National Enquirer.

I do not think this forum should be used for gossip.  It should be strictly used for real issues that affect our parish (i.e. political matters, West Nile Virus, Swine Flu, etc).  I guess this in not entertaining enough.  I do not come here for entertainment.  I come here for facts regarding local issues.  Not BS!

People don't do anything anymore because they know they'll be talked about on the forum......LOL

How about all the people being arrested at Wal-Mart for shoplifting lately.  That's a good topic.  New loss prevention personnel is doing an excellent job.  I commend them on the job they're doing.

Man, if those loss prevention guys could get some more clerks to check folks out, I would vote for them for president...or at least parish president!  LOL

BS?  Get used to it, it's not going anywhere.  I think the decline has been due to the summer holidays.  Most of the issues seem to come when school is back in.

I guess I have to get use to it.  I hear enough B.S. from our U.S. President, why not withstand it here in a local forum, lol!

LMO's??? Why pick on the Firefighters who do one of the best jobs in the state!!!! Explaine more please? St. Mary Parish and Morgan City for sure has one of the youngest and most professioal fire departmenats in the GREAT state of LoUiSiAna. Don't pick on them.
