Shriner's Hospitals
Apr 11th, 2009, 7:04pm

In these troubling economic times being felt around the country, we are bombarded with news stories about BILLIONS upon BILLIONS of government money being used to bail out companies who's leaders, filled with greed, mishandled and misled those who trusted them to do the right things with their money and investments.  We hear all too many times about families who are unable to afford quality health care for themselves or their children, however, we continue to help the Madoff's of this country while we ignore the families and children who really need our help.  I was disturbed to read in the newspaper that "Shriner's" hospitals was about to consider closing a large majority of their hospitals in this country.
I was ignorant about what the clowns and men that wore those "funny red hats" in the parades actually did until I became friends with a Shriner.  They are committed and responsible for the most worthy cause of helping our children.  These men and their organization are unsung heros and should be applauded for their causes.  I've learned that these hospitals are some of the best orthaepedic and burn hospitals in the United States and cost the families and children....NOTHING.....NADDA. Not one red cent.  These hospitals are maintained by these men with the "funny red hats" and their fundraising efforts. These hospitals are a ray of light in a country full of turmoil and despair regarding affordable healthcare for our children and have been saviors to many.  The Shriner's hospital in Louisiana provides a glimmer of hope for those families who have no option.  They care not about race, religion, sex, or nationality....only that it be a child...our future.  These hopsitals are expensive to operate.  It takes doctors, equipment, and money to conduct research.  The Shriner's Hospital located in Shreveport, Louisiana has helped over 55,000 small children from all over the world.
It will be tragic loss to this State and area should this and the other hospitals be closed.  Find out from a Shriner or a Mason what you can do to help.  Let them know how much it means to keep these doors open.  Call, E-Mail or send letters and donations to help.  I hope it's not too late to change the course.  Do what you can.  I plan to find a Shriner and help. Don't let those who couldn't contain their own greed and drive this country into a recession and leaving stocks in ruins eliminate the only hope these children may have.  Shreveport Shriner's Hospital-3100 Samford Ave. Sherveport, Louisiana 71103 or you may look at http://support.shrinerhospitals.org.
